Over the past year I have had the great privilege of serving as the board chair for First Choice for Women. It has been a wonderful year and we have seen God’s favor on this life-driven ministry in remarkable ways. God has repeatedly provided resources to grow the influence of First Choice for Women, expanded and brought new partnerships to us, given Lisa, our CEO, wisdom in adding to and developing the committed staff, and most importantly, 28 babies are alive today because of the ministry made possible by your generosity.
In 2019, I will continue to serve on the board but my responsibilities in my personal ministry context are more in the next months than would allow me to continue serving as chair. It has been a great privilege to serve in this capacity and I look forward to seeing what God will do over the next several months. Cindy Costerison served with me as the vice-chair last year and will be leading the board in 2019. Cindy is a superb leader with a great passion for babies, mothers, and families, a strong advocate for life, and a person of deep and mature faith. I am excited about what she will bring to this leadership role and the great strides she will lead us to take.
There has never been a more important time for God’s people to stand against a culture that is so upside down. Isaiah said that there would be a day when many would “call evil good and good evil…put darkness for light and light for darkness…and put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter” (Isaiah 5:20). That describes our America today well. Nothing will change unless we stand up and make a difference. First Choice for Women is one of the best soils in which to plant a seed of generosity because we are committed to challenging the darkness and evil with the light of love and the presence of Jesus. I am excited about the year that is before us and the difference we have an opportunity to make.
Thank you again for the awesome privilege of serving in this capacity. I look forward to a marvelous year and to working with Lisa and Cindy. May God richly bless and prosper you in this New Year!
