2015: All About Abstinence

keithWe have had a strong finish to a great fall semester in our schools! Now we look forward to taking a small break as we prepare for the spring semester. Looking back over the past several months, the overwhelming thought is how much God has blessed our efforts to serve Him through the opportunities He has presented to us.God has allowed us to be a part of eight junior high schools and five high schools this past semester! This allowed us to reach over 1,200 individual students from 6th to 12th grade. When I think about the fact that in the past five months God has allowed us to reach such a large number of young minds and hearts, I get so excited! Teaching them about the importance of strong, healthy, pure relationships as well as being a strong, healthy, and pure individual is the first step in reaching our objective, to eliminate abortion in our community. In addition to our regular school schedule, God has given us an opportunity to reach out to the Phi Epsilon chapter of the Chi Omega sorority at Ball State and speak during an end of the semester chapter meeting. What a blessing it was to be able to deliver our message at the college level! I was able to speak on the importance of having good character in a relationship as well as cover important information concerning date rape. We laughed and learned together, and the girls responded well to the materials presented. They quickly relieved me of my anxiety about being the only guy in the entire building! The excitement for what God has provided is driving us to reach even higher in the coming year. Our program is currently being reviewed by the Burris School administration for 6th-12th grade, and the Delta Middle School administration is considering adding the program to their 6th grade curriculum; increasing the number of students we reach each year! We are also expecting to be involved in more BSU sorority chapter meetings next semester. In addition, one of our major focuses going into 2015 is to get our local churches involved with the program. Our hope is to make a faith based version of Creating Positive Relationships available to church youth groups and other organizations during the summer months. But we need your help to make all of this happen; additional expenses, the need for more volunteers to teach abstinence, and lots of prayer is necessary to make this vision a reality in 2015.The story of this semester speaks to how God has blessed us as we have tried to serve Him! Just as Jabez asked God to expand his influence in 1 Chronicles 4, we are praying for God to expand our boarders and enlarge our influence on the youth in our community for His glory. We appreciate your support, and most importantly your prayers! Please pray with us that God will continue to bless our efforts and continue to provide opportunities for our influence to be spread in our community. Please also consider being a part of what God is doing though First Choice as an abstinence program volunteer, financial supporter and prayer partner this next year.
