The Client Connection

As the year draws to a close, we are so thankful for the many women and young families that have been served by First Choice for Women in 2014. They come to us with varying needs; material, emotional and spiritual. We praise God for allowing us to glorify Him in this way! This year we were blessed to be able to help those in need in a number of different ways.Material NeedsWe received a call from a young pregnant woman who needed maternity clothes for a job interview. Our volunteers assisted her in choosing appropriate clothing, items that would make a good “first impression”. She was so appreciative, she called later to share the news that she had gotten the job! Now she participates in our Parent Care program preparing for the birth of her baby.Emotional NeedsRecently one of our volunteers met with a client whose husband had abandoned her. They have one child and she is pregnant with their second. We listened, encouraged and prayed with her. She knows that the staff and volunteers at First Choice love her, love her children and love her husband. Thanks to your generous support, we will be there to help meet the material needs of her children as well as her need for emotional support.Spiritual NeedsA positive pregnancy test prompted a spiritual question from a young unmarried client. She is choosing life for her unborn child, but had decided not to attend church because, like so many young girls we see, she is concerned about attending as an unwed pregnant teen. What better time than the Christmas season to encourage this young girl? Mary must have felt the same way over two thousand years ago as she carried our Savior as an unwed pregnant teen! We talked about God’s love and forgiveness. I encouraged her and her boyfriend to make an appointment with their pastor and his wife to discuss the situation and to give her church the opportunity to extend grace to them during this time.You Make a DifferenceJust a couple of weeks ago I had the honor of holding a baby whose mother came to the center early last spring intent on having an abortion. Because of your generosity we wereable to counsel this young woman and share the truth about life! Praise God for this precious child! And because you care enough to support and pray for this ministry, First Choice was able to provide the mom and her baby with several items, including a new crib and mattress.I received a lovely thank you message from her with a picture of the baby in his new crib. He is beautiful!Saving and Changing LivesOur hope for 2015 is that it will bring more clients like these to the doors of First Choice for Women. We especially look forward to sharing a “first look” at their baby via ultrasound….How exciting that will be to have this option available as we counsel abortion vulnerable women!The fight for life continues daily at First Choice for Women and we need your help to stay in the battle.
