Presidential Perspective
As we prepare to welcome the year 2015, many of us will begin making a list of resolutions. While there are many worthy endeavors you could resolve to accomplish in 2015, I want to challenge you to live the New Year with significance through the ministry of First Choice! In the first chapter of Philippians, we read an account of the Apostle Paul in prison for preaching the gospel. Paul’s enemies want nothing more than to permanently stop his effort to share Jesus Christ with the world. At one point in the first chapter, it seems as if the guards are prepared to kill Paul, to which Paul reasons, “to die is gain”, knowing that his death would result in his going home to be with the Lord. The guards observing Paul’s strange enthusiasm to be martyred consider an alternative -- leave him in chains. But again, Paul’s resolve is very apparent. He reasons that to be left in chains would provide new opportunities to share the gospel with fellow prisoners and perhaps even with the very prison guards seeking to destroy him.Pastor and author/speaker, Louie Giglio, makes three important observations about Paul’s resolve demonstrated in this account from Philippians. First, Paul’s attitude teaches us that we should not resolve to just living long and happy lives, but to live our life with significance. Second, death is not our greatest enemy, but rather our enemy is a wasted life. And finally, when confronted with a choice, no one can rob us of the opportunity to live well. We can choose to make the most of every opportunity afforded to us in life.As we approach 2015, it is our prayer at First Choice for Women that you’ll choose to live significantly by becoming a covenant partner with this ministry. We need men and women to get involved as volunteers. We need individuals who will commit to give of their financial resources to the ministry of First Choice. With your generosity, we can continue to provide counsel and care for the women and babies who depend on us each day.We need God’s people to pray and lift up to God the ministry of First Choice for Women.Would you please take a moment to consider getting involved in 2015? The back of this newsletter includes a section where you can share with us your resolution to be a part of the ministry of First Choice. We look forward to hearing from you and trust that you will help us continue to minister to the many women whose path will be directed by God to the doors of First Choice this coming year.Let’s live significantly in 2015!
