The Client Connection
Change. Often change is good…like the improving spring temperatures. Sometimes, however, change is hard. The clients we see every day at First Choice for Women look to us to help them navigate some of life’s most challenging changes.Changing DirectionA young woman came to us for a pregnancy test. The test was negative, but the change was positive; she made a decision to trust Jesus as her Savior, right there in my office! Praise God for His Faithfulness! Please pray for this client as she begins her new journey of faith.Changing MindsWe received a call from a 40 year old woman pregnant with her fourth child. She was so distraught it was difficult to even understand what she was saying. Her boyfriend was insisting that she get an abortion. After speaking with one of our client advocates an appointment was made to visit First Choice. Thankfully the couple chose life! We are now working with the mother in our Parent Care program to help her adjust to the changes that this surprise pregnancy will bring to their family.Changing LivesAfter attending Parent Care for several months, another young woman found herself facing a very scary change. This client was always very quiet, could not communicate without stuttering and never made eye contact. As the relationship between the Parent Care mentor and this client deepened, she felt safe enough to share some concerning information regarding her family dynamics. It was not long before we realized that she was living in an emotionally abusive situation. At her request, we reached out to one of our Delaware County agency partners who assisted her in fleeing the abusive home. Now she is a completely different person! Confident and happy, it is such a blessing each week to hear how she and her son are thriving in their new environment.Changing Your WorldWe could not assist the women God sends our way without world changing Everyday Heroes like you. Please pray for us as we continue to love and support the clients of First Choice for Women. Partner with us as we share the truth… that change is inevitable, but we can know and trust in a God who never changes.St. Francis of AssisiNewman Center for StudentsThank you to St. Francis of Assisi Newman Center for Students for your volunteer day at First Choice. Your hard work was impressive and we are so appreciative of the projects you took on, including a thorough cleaning of our building. What a great group of students!Community Baby ShowerA number of Delaware County church representatives came out on January 31st for a community baby shower hosted at First Choice for Women by April Wood and Kristy West. We received many packages of diapers along will several handmade items, including a “Blessing Well” made of diapers. Thank you for planning this fun event!
