2016 Sanctity of Human Life Sunday
Sunday, January 17, 2016 represented the 32nd annual Sanctity of Human Life Sunday (SOHLS). The National Sanctity of Human Life Day was originally declared by President Ronald Reagan in 1984. The first National SOHLS was held on Sunday January 22, 1984. This date was chosen to coincide with the 11th anniversary of the 1973 Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision that first recognized the constitutionally-protected status of abortion in the United States.Reagan issued the proclamation annually thereafter, designating Sanctity of Human Life Day to be the third Sunday in January. His successor, George H. W. Bush, continued the annual proclamation throughout his presidency. Bush's successor, Bill Clinton, discontinued the practice throughout his eight years in office, but Bush's son and Clinton's successor, George W. Bush, resumed the proclamation, and did so every year of his presidency. At First Choice, every day is a day designated for the sanctity of human life. Young women come to us in the midst of a crisis, unable to see beyond the immediate problem to get a glimpse of any hope that may lie ahead. When the future appears dark and uncertain, the light of Christ is desperately needed. First Choice for Women offers every individual who walks through our door the hope that can only be found in Him.God gave us the gift of life because it truly produces hope in our lives. As we care for our clients, fear is lifted and the true abundance of God’s grace begins to shine in their lives. We need your help in this fight to protect lives. Will you make every day a sanctity of human life day? Will you help someone see past the pain of today and reach for the hope of the future? Will you help us show someone that Life is Hope and Hope Changes Everything by becoming a volunteer, by partnering with us through financial support, by becoming a church liaison/life ambassador or by helping us in our fundraising efforts? Will you become our prayer partner and keep us in your prayers often? With your help we can give hope to those in need!
