The Client Connection
by Leslie Hatcher, Center Director
In Philippians 4:4 the apostle Paul encourages us to “Rejoice in the Lord always, again I say Rejoice!” Sadly, this can be a challenge for the women and families who come to us in crisis.
Hope for the Future
How does a mother rejoice when her teenage daughter tells her she’s nearly three months pregnant? How does a single mom with three kids under the age of 6 rejoice when faced with another pregnancy? How does a young single mom in an abusive relationship rejoice when the baby she’s carrying will tie her to the father for years to come? Hurting mothers, daughters and families facing an unplanned and unwanted pregnancy often come to First Choice in despair, but through God’s grace and mercy we are here to offer them HOPE!
Many times we are the first place that women in crisis turn for information. Some clients just need a listening ear and a compassionate response. Others need accurate information about abortion…about adoption…and about parenting to make an informed decision. But all need hope – the hope provided by the love of a God, who empowers us to rejoice even in the most difficult circumstances.
Hope Changes Everything
One of the clients’ noted above was actively seeking the abortion pill. Everyone in her life was advising her to abort. After seeing the life growing within her at a follow up ultrasound appointment, she expressed embarrassment for even considering an abortion. Even though the young woman’s circumstances have not have changed, her heart has changed! In fact, I am excited to share that all three of the clients mentioned at the beginning of this article chose LIFE for their unborn babies! Now that’s something to rejoice about!
Hope Rejoices
Because of your support, the staff and volunteers of First Choice for Women will be there for these young ladies - and anyone else who needs us - providing the hope of the gospel of Jesus. We are truly grateful and ask you to rejoice with us as we celebrate 30 years of sharing Life and Hope to women in crisis.
